groupdocs.com started with online document manipulation apps before shifting focus to .NET and Java APIs. In 2013 GroupDocs Viewer for .NET was released to allow developers to include high-fidelity document viewing within their .NET applications, built using Aspose technology, GroupDocs Viewer for .NET copes with a multitude of file formats and configuration options. A steady stream of other .NET and Java APIs followed soon after, with more added every year.

GroupDocs is a technology company focused on building the best software products in the world. In order to maintain that focus we have a small business team, so that we can have a greater number of developers and support staff. The time and costs associated with negotiating and managing custom agreements is high; therefore, our agreement policies must be more conservative so that we can continue to build better products and services.
Pre-purchase agreements are any agreements requested prior to a purchase being made. Examples include nondisclosure agreements, evaluation agreements and other similar documents. GroupDocs is unable to accommodate any pre-purchase agreements. Our End User License Agreement contains language for evaluations, and confidentiality. The terms of the End User License Agreement apply once an evaluation is installed, so it’s possible the End User License Agreement may contain the types of assurances requested in other pre-purchase agreements.
GroupDocs is willing to accept limited changes to our End User License Agreement. All changes must be made in the GroupDocs agreement wizard. The wizard outlines areas of the license agreement that GroupDocs is willing to change, to minimize negotiation time, in order to make efficient use of our clients’ time and resources.
One must be willing to purchase Enterprise Support in order to negotiate a custom license agreement. More information regarding Enterprise Support can be found in the support section. If negotiations are unsuccessful, then there is no obligation to purchase Enterprise Support. Contact the GroupDocs sales team for access to the GroupDocs agreement wizard.
The negotiation of a customized license agreement is expected to be fully concluded in a reasonable time. In the event an agreement cannot be settled upon in a timely manner GroupDocs reserves the right to charge an additional fee.
For more substantial changes, such as redlines to the GroupDocs EULA or the inclusion of references to external agreements, statutes, or policies, GroupDocs offers a Hand-Crafted End User License Agreement (EULA) option. This option incurs an additional fee of $9,999 USD, and its availability is subject to the discretion of the GroupDocs Business Team.
All Hand-Crafted EULA negotiations are expected to conclude within a reasonable timeframe. If agreement cannot be reached promptly, GroupDocs reserves the right to close the request or apply additional fees where applicable. The Hand-Crafted EULA fee is only charged after a successful agreement negotiation. If negotiations are unsuccessful, then the fee is not charged.
To request a Hand-Crafted EULA, contact the GroupDocs sales team with a brief explanation of the required changes. This helps us assess feasibility and respond with next steps efficiently.
In Section 7 of the End User License Agreement, there is NDA-style language. When sharing sensitive content with any GroupDocs Team Member, simply include a “Confidential Information” note and any data or files will be covered and treated with the utmost confidentiality. GroupDocs is unable to make any additional warranties aside from what is included in the End User License Agreement.
GroupDocs provides all customers with access to the Aspose Trust Center, which offers comprehensive self-service resources to support vendor due diligence. This includes policy documentation, links to related materials, and answers to frequently asked security and compliance questions.
If a customer requires GroupDocs to complete a custom vendor form or questionnaire, whether submitted via a third-party platform (e.g., OneTrust), Word document, Excel spreadsheet, or other format, the following conditions apply:

We run our services to ensure maximum uptime while focusing on the security of any customer data.
GroupDocs's customer facing services are delivered via Amazon Web Services (AWS), the largest and leading provider of cloud infrastructure. Millions of customers in hundreds of countries, including government agencies, educational institutions and non-profits trust AWS every day with their infrastructure and data.
Using an industry standard like Amazon helps guarantee the security and resilience of our services. Amazon has attained a number of certifications that affirm that they have stringent, working internal controls.
Amazon safeguards the physical security of their servers. Servers are located in non-descript facilities, and critical facilities have extensive setback and military grade perimeter control. Access to data centers requires two-factor authentication at three points.
Host operating systems are kept secure by internal processes and procedures. Guest operating systems are entirely controlled by GroupDocs. Amazon administrators do not have access to them. By default, inbound firewall rules deny all traffic to host servers.
All critical and production systems are backed up nightly using full system snapshots. Backups are tested periodically.
All backups are encrypted, securely transmitted and stored within the Amazon S3 storage service which allows for data to be stored on no less than three physically independent devices for security and resilience.
All access is logged and tracked for auditing purposes.
Account passwords are encrypted and filtered out from all application and system logs. Passwords are not visible to anyone.
Sign out of your GroupDocs account to prevent someone from using your computer to access your account without your authorization. Keep your user name and password secure and do not disclose it to any third-party. In case a third-party gains unauthorized access to your account due to any act or omission on your part, you are solely responsible for any loss caused.
GroupDocs does not retain any credit card information provided by you. When we charge your credit card, such information is transferred directly to, and processed by, our payment gateway.
To protect user information, GroupDocs's payment gateway uses the latest 256-bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology for secure transactions. The payment gateway is certified as compliant with card association security initiatives including Payment Card Industry (PCI) and Cardholder Information Security Program (CISP) standards for data protection.

GroupDocs products run on customer's own machines, infrastructure and network and do not send any files back to GroupDocs for processing and therefore does not have access to them.
The one exception to this is where a customer has access to a GroupDocs Metered License. These licenses report usage information to our servers for billing purposes. The reported data only includes usage information, no other statistical information can be derived from this reported information.
From time to time a customer may send documents to the GroupDocs support team via the forums for the purpose of diagnosis of technical issues or feature requests. These files are maintained only as long as necessary to complete the required task and the customer can ask for these files to be removed at any time.
If the customer marks a thread as private none of these files are accessible to any person other than the customer and select GroupDocs staff.
Each core GroupDocs system as well as several non-essential systems are monitored to ensure they are always contactable and functional.
We offer a public service status portal which lists historical downtime incidents and resolution notices. This provides real-time information in the event of any service disruption.
Uptime monitoring is accomplished using an externally hosted platform which notifies a company wide alerting system when any monitored services have issues.
We provide real-time status alerts of any system status changes, these can be subscribed to via RSS, ATOM or email.

Yes! All products from all our websites that provide self hosted download products use the same EULA. This reduces the time and complexity for legal departments in companies who utilize different sets of our products.

We list a small number of our customers on our website as examples of organizations using our software. If you do not want us to mention your company name at all, just contact us and we'll add you to our list of companies requesting not to be party to future disclosures or forms of publicity (including our customer lists on our website).
The only customer data that we currently maintain within our own internal systems is customer and transaction information (i.e. purchase history), as well as anything that you may (or may not) elect to share with us via our support system. The product itself does not collect information.

On the 25th May 2018 the European Union began enforcing its General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). It impacts how businesses collect and process data from European individuals. While GroupDocs is an Australian Business with no European entity, it values the rights of its users’ and customers and their personal data regardless of their location. As such we’re working hard to comply with these rules across all our systems and processes.
This page gives an overview of the roles described by the GDPR, the responsibilities of each party and the efforts we’re putting in place to support these recommendations.
While using our services you may upload files for processing via our Cloud API platforms, you may also send our Support Team files for debug or support purposes. Due to the nature of our products and services, your files may contain information from or about your clients. While covered by the confidentiality clauses in our EULA, the upcoming updates to our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy further cement these rights.
These are your data subjects, and you are considered the data controller for this personal data. Our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy refer to this data as Client Data.
Using GroupDocs services to process your Client Data means that you have engaged GroupDocs as a data processor to carry out certain data processing activities on your behalf. Article 28 of the GDPR states that the relationship between the controller and the processor needs to be made in writing (electronic form is acceptable under subsection (9) of Article 28). Our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy also serve as your data processing contract with GroupDocs. They set out the instructions you are giving to GroupDocs in regards to processing personal data you control and establishing the rights and responsibilities of both parties. GroupDocs will only process your Client Data based on your instructions as the data controller.
When data is transferred outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) by data processors, the GDPR sets strict requirements for moving data outside of the scope if its protection.
As GroupDocs is an Australian business with no European entity, the data controller makes the sole decision to transfer data to GroupDocs which is based in Australia outside of the EEA, with its technical infrastructure based in the US. Where we do engage with sub-processors we do so in a considered fashion considering the legalities of the transfer at each step.
We’ll keep an up-to-date list of sub-processors in our Terms of Use. This ensures we are fully transparent about our transfers and the processors we use. We’ll explain the data we transfer and for what purpose. We only engage with sub-processors who have either certified under the EU-US Privacy Shield framework or signed the EU Commission’s standard contractual clauses for data transfers with us.

GroupDocs respects the privacy of its customers and their clients. To that end, we have implemented and continue to improve both technical and organizational measures in line with the GDPR to ensure the appropriate processing of personal data.
We have reviewed our internal processes and operations to make sure we map and audit the data travelling through our systems. We are implementing functionality within all our main customer facing systems to cope with the principles of Privacy by Design. Any access to Client Data is only done through the permission of our customers and is always limited and specifically in scope to the contract between GroupDocs and its customers have engaged in.
Our internal procedures and logs make sure that we meet the GDPR accountability requirements.
We onboard new third-party services rarely, but when we do we have an internal process for evaluating these suppliers on their security and privacy considerations. We keep the number of sub-processors to a minimum, where possible using our own technology and infrastructure for processing.
Data subjects’ ownership of their personal data is at the heart of the GDPR. We are working on a plan to respond to data subject requests to delete, modify, or transfer their data. This means that our Customer Support Specialists along with the Engineers that assist them in their work are well-prepared to help you in any matters involving your personal data.
Our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy are updated regularly to make sure we build upon the good work we’ve always done in this area. As these documents set out the basis of our relationship with you, it is of paramount importance for us to openly and clearly explain your rights in these documents.
Training and awareness about GDPR, the handling of and processing of Personal Data have been communicated throughout the whole GroupDocs Business. Each GroupDocs Team Member has awareness of the issues and our policies surrounding the compliance with GDPR and other Privacy related issues. We have built this training into our new team member training requirements and have scheduled refresher checks regularly.
We believe the above approach in adhering to the GDPR is firmly in line with the ethos of its purpose and what it aims to achieve.
Intellectual Property Theft is the illegal decomplilation, repurposing, wrapping, reverse engineering and distribution of GroupDocs's products. It is illegal because it breaks GroupDocs's license agreement and infringes on our copyright and intellectual property rights.
Developers who have to work with stolen software can find themselves unable to get updates, fixes and support. They may also be using a product that has malicious code embedded within it. If GroupDocs prosecutes Intellectual Property theft cases, the perpetrator may be forced to remove products or even cease trading. This type of situation could cause genuine customers serious issues if they are using stolen products in production environments.

GroupDocs does not own, control or direct the use of any of the Client data stored or processed by a Client or User via the Service. GroupDocs is largely unaware of what Client Data is actually being stored or made available by a Client or User to the Service and does not directly access such Client Data except as authorized by the User, or as necessary to provide Services to the Client and its Users. GroupDocs should be considered only as a processor on behalf of its Clients and Users as to any Client Data containing Personal Data that is subject to the requirements of the GDPR. Personal data collected by GroupDocs will be stored in secure hosting facilities provided by Amazon Web Services located in the US which is on the EU Commission’s list of countries or territories providing adequate protection for the rights and freedoms of data subjects in connection with the processing of their personal data. We use "Google reCAPTCHA" (hereinafter "reCAPTCHA") on our websites. This service is provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheater Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA ("Google"). reCAPTCHA is used to check whether the data entered on our website (such as on a contact or signup form) has been entered by a human or by an automated program. To do this, reCAPTCHA analyzes the behavior of the website visitor based on various characteristics. This analysis starts automatically as soon as a website visitor enters the website. For the analysis, reCAPTCHA evaluates various information, like IP address, how long the visitor has been on the website, or mouse movements made by the user. Data collected during the analysis will be forwarded to Google. The reCAPTCHA analyses take place completely in the background. Website visitors are not advised that such an analysis is taking place. From time to time, GroupDocs will provide information to their customers in the form of electronic newsletters. When you subscribe to the GroupDocs newsletter you will be added to our mailing list and will receive announcements and information about GroupDocs and its ventures. The announcements and information will come from GroupDocs, not from third parties. It will be emailed directly to the email address that you provide when you subscribe. If you no longer wish to receive newsletters from us in the future, you can sign-in groupdocs.com and then unsubscribe by accessing the settings of your profile.

License abuse is the illegal and unauthorized reproduction, distribution and/or use of software and software licenses. It is illegal because it breaks the license agreement and infringes on the originator's copyright and intellectual property.

If a product has been modified to work without a license, users of that software can't be sure that it hasn't been tampered with in other ways. If software isn't authorized, don't depend on it.
GroupDocs regularly checks for license files that have been made public and may blacklist these licenses without warning. We will only reinstate licenses once the public versions have been removed. We encourage all customers to be mindful of the potential of license leakage through the distribution of derived works with GroupDocs products contained within them or using public source control repositories.

GroupDocs uses Amazon EC2 cloud servers. Using an industry standard like Amazon helps guarantee the security and resilience of our services. Amazon has attained a number of certifications that affirm that they have stringent, working internal controls.
Amazon safeguards the physical security of their servers. Servers are located in non-descript facilities, and critical facilities have extensive setback and military grade perimeter control. Access to data centers requires two-factor authentication at three points.
Host operating systems are kept secure by internal processes and procedures. Guest operating systems are entirely controlled by GroupDocs. Amazon administrators do not have access to them. By default, inbound firewall rules deny all traffic to host servers.
Amazon systems are built with extensive redundancy in mind. GroupDocs backs up data on a daily basis. All access is logged and tracked for auditing purposes.
Account passwords are encrypted and filtered out from all application and system logs. Passwords are not visible to anyone.
Sign out of your GroupDocs account to prevent someone from using your computer to access your account without your authorization. Keep your user name and password secure and do not disclose it to any third-party. In case a third-party gains unauthorized access to your account due to any act or omission on your part, you are solely responsible for any loss caused.
GroupDocs does not retain any credit card information provided by you. When we charge your credit card, such information is transferred directly to, and processed by, our payment gateway.
To protect user information, GroupDocs's payment gateway uses the latest 256-bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology for secure transactions. The payment gateway is certified as compliant with card association security initiatives including Payment Card Industry (PCI) and Cardholder Information Security Program (CISP) standards for data protection.
GroupDocs products run on customer's own machines, infrastructure and network and do not send any files back to GroupDocs for processing and therefore does not have access to them. From time to time a customer may send documents to the GroupDocs support team via the forums for the purpose of diagnosis of technical issues or feature requests. These files are maintained only as long as necessary to complete the required task and the customer can ask for these files to be removed at any time. If the customer marks the thread as private none of these files are accessible to any person other than the customer and select GroupDocs staff.

The Services are performed using equipment or facilities located in the United States. This provides legal grounds for assuring that, when processed in the United States, the personal data of EU citizens that are processed by GroupDocs customers when using the Service will receive from GroupDocs and its service providers located outside the EU an adequate level of protection within the meaning of Article 46 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation).
By agreeing to these Terms, the User grants GroupDocs a general authorization in the meaning of Article 28 (2) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 to engage processors for the purposes of providing the Service. The list of processors GroupDocs uses is publicly available at subprocessors. GroupDocs will inform the User of changes in such processors in accordance with the procedure of modifying these Terms as stipulated in this agreement.
For the purposes of Article 28 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679, these Terms constitute the data processing contract between the User (data subject) and GroupDocs as both the data controller and the data processor (GroupDocs are the data processor in instances where the User makes use of a Metered License). The User hereby instructs GroupDocs to control and process the data as described in these Terms.
Subject matter and nature of processing. GroupDocs provides a Service whereby to access the User must sign up for an account which involves the supply of personal information. GroupDocs collects and uses customer info to send newsletters, keep purchase records, retain forum posts. With a Metered license GroupDocs also acts as the processor of usage data.
Duration. GroupDocs will collect data on behalf of the User until the termination of the User's account. Upon termination, GroupDocs will store the User's data for a period of 7 days, should the User wish to reopen the account to resume the use of the GroupDocs's Service or to export data, unless instructed otherwise by the User. GroupDocs deletes or returns all the personal data to the User after the end of the provision of services relating to processing, and deletes existing copies unless Union or Member State law requires storage of the personal data.
Parties’ rights and obligations. The User's rights and obligations regarding User Data are provided in these Terms. GroupDocs ensures that persons authorised to process the personal data have committed themselves to confidentiality or are under an appropriate statutory obligation of confidentiality. GroupDocs takes all measures required pursuant to Article 32 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and we undertake to make available to the controller all information necessary to demonstrate compliance with their obligations and to allow for and contribute to audits, including inspections, conducted or mandated by the User.
Unlawful Client Data. GroupDocs is not obliged to pre-screen, monitor or filter any User Data or acts of its processing by the User in order to discover any unlawful nature therein. However, if such unlawful User Data or the action of its unlawful processing is discovered or brought to the attention of GroupDocs or if there is reason to believe that certain User Data is unlawful, we have the right to:
If GroupDocs is presented convincing evidence that the User Data is not unlawful, we may, at our sole discretion, restore such User Data, which was removed from the Web Site or Account or access to which was restricted.
In addition, in the event GroupDocs believes in its sole discretion User Data violates applicable laws, rules or regulations or these Terms, Supplier may (but has no obligation), to remove such User Data at any time with or without notice. Without limiting the generality of the preceding sentence, GroupDocs complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and will remove User Data from the Platform upon receipt of a compliant takedown notice.
GroupDocs as the data controller and data processor will assist the User as the data subject in meeting the User's obligations under Regulation (EU) 2016/679, providing subject access, and allowing data subjects to exercise their rights under Regulation (EU) 2016/679.
GroupDocs assumes no responsibility regarding the accuracy of the information that is provided by GroupDocs and use of such information is at the recipient's own risk. GroupDocs provides no assurances that any reported problems may be resolved with the use of any information that GroupDocs provides.
